Daisy and Gatsby: Never again

Another watercolor for my english final project... Hum ha.... I really liked the lineart, and when I colored it, I butchered it. TAT

Basically, I wanted to portray the feeling that although Gatsby and Daisy loved each other, they couldn't have each other and that's why Gatsby (right) is emo and Daisy (left) is crying. I originally wanted it to be Gatsby alone being emo and Daisy as a thought/ ghost... it didn't turn out that way... OTL

Yea I know, this style is very much like Vampire Knight, but whenever I think of The Great Gatsby, I think of Vampire Knight... i dunno...

I really wanted Daisy (the one with green hair) to be kind of like a ghost but apparently, I failed at that. And originally, I wanted Daisy to have blond hair, but since Gatsby already had that and Daisy had her eyes (green) closed, I decided to be symbolic and paint her hair green. OTL

Argh, I'm pretty unsatisfied with this picture. A friend pointed out that this pic looked more fit for Hamlet because Gatsby was never really that emo... ah wells... i tried. OTL I wish I had more time............. and salt + watercolor = fail. OTL
