I thought it was funny that the cockroach was the first animal I have ever dissected. And the only animal I've ever dissected. I also had major issues with drawing the cockroach (it never turned out quite right....).

Last semester, I took the required biology course, which of course, comes with a lab. In that lab, we were required to dissect a rat, earthworm, cockroach, crayfish, and starfish. It was.... a very interesting class to say the least. However, underneath all the innocence, I couldn't help but feel my emotions and sense of morality clash together like bulls in a bull fight.
To put it simply, I was halfway between intellectual fascination and moral disgust. Oftentimes, I wonder if there's anyone else in my lab who feels the same way.
I never found anyone.
When it came time to start on our final projects for my art class, my mind directly flew to those conflicting emotions, having finished my practical for the lab a week before which was horrible btw orz.
Anyways, I don't want to spend too long explaining, so feel free to deduce whatever you feel like from this series.
Tools: technical pens (microns, steadler), smooth bristol, mechanical pencil, white gel pen, PS CS5 for editing and texture Time: 4 hrs Texture: unfortunately, I don't remember! D: If anyone knows, please let me know!!
Dissecting is a strange thing :s
And on the biology class thing ...
I dissected a frog ... and felt the same about it. =.=''
Ugh... the thought of dissecting a frog makes me squeamish. D8
